Samsung Unveils Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro

Samsung unveiled Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 flexible smartphones and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro headphones.

Samsung held its summer Galaxy Unpacked 2022, unveiling a batch of new products, including flexible Galaxy Z range smartphones and updates to popular accessories.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

The flagship of the company's flexible smartphone range has received the current Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor clocked at up to 3.2GHz and Adreno 730 GPU, an improved folding design as well as new camera modules.

The internal AMOLED display has a 7.6" diagonal, 2176×1812 resolution and a 120Hz frame rate. It is covered by Gorilla Glass Victus+ glass, which is thinner and stronger than its predecessor. The external AMOLED display has a diagonal of 6.2", a resolution of 2316×904 pixels and a frame rate of the same 120 Hz.

The RAM in all configurations is 12GB, but the storage can be 256GB / 512GB / 1024GB.

The triple main camera module includes:

• A new 50MP wide-angle lens (f/1.8);
• 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens (f/2.2);
• 10MP (f/2.4) telephoto lens with triple optical zoom.
  

The front cameras are, as before, two:

• a 10MP (f/2.2) external module;
• 4 megapixel (f/1.8) internal module, located under the display matrix and which has become more discreet.

Other innovations include: customizable stereo speakers by AKG, IPX8 water protection, a slimmer and lighter casing, reduced frame around the display, a more minimalist and robust folding mechanism that can withstand over 200,000 folds.

The 4400 mAh battery supports fast charging up to 25W (50% in half an hour) and wireless charging up to 15W. It supports 5G networks, eSIM, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. Out of the box, the device runs One UI 4 and Android 12.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 starts at $1799 for the 256GB version and reaches $2159 for the 1TB variant. Sales start on August 26.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4

The flexible smartphone gets minimal external changes, most of them are hidden inside: it's the flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 clocked at 3.2GHz and Adreno 730 GPU, as well as an increased 3,700mAh battery with support for fast charging up to 25W (50% in 30 minutes).

The internal AMOLED display, covered by Gorilla Glass Victus+, has a 6.7" diagonal, 2640×1080 pixels resolution and 120Hz frame rate. The second AMOLED screen has a 1.9" diagonal and 260×512 pixels.

As with Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, the company has managed to reduce the bezels around the display, making the edges even flatter and the folding mechanism even more inconspicuous.

The cameras have also undergone an upgrade, which the manufacturer claims allows you to take sharper pictures both during the day and at night:

• 12MP (f/1.8) wide-angle lens with optical stabilisation.
• 12 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens (f/2.2);
• 10 megapixel front lens (f/2.4).

RAM is 8GB, built-in 128 / 256 / 512GB. It supports 5G networks, eSIM, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2. Out of the box, the device runs One UI 4 and Android 12.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 starts at $999 for the 128GB version. Sales start on August 26.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro

A key feature of the new generation of the company's flagship TWS headphones is support for a new proprietary codec that allows you to play 24-bit Hi-Fi audio on compatible smartphones. At the same time, the headphones have become more compact and the noise cancelling has become more efficient, with IPX7 protection.

The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro offer up to 5 hours of battery life with noise cancellation on and up to 8 hours with it off. Recharging in the case will add 13 and 21 hours respectively.

The headphones cost $229 and will start selling on August 26.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5

Samsung's new generation of watches comes in three models at once: two regular versions at 40mm and 44mm, as well as a 45mm Pro version.

Among the key changes: higher battery capacity and faster charging, as well as increased durability.

All three models feature the Exynos W920 processor (same as the 4th generation) clocked at 1.18GHz, 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

The BioActive sensor has been upgraded to include heart rate, body composition analysis and ECG. It also provides more advanced sleep tracking. But the biggest innovation in terms of health features is the body temperature sensor.

Traditionally, there is GPS, NFC, LTE (in some versions), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.2. The case is IP68 and 5ATM protected.

The 40mm and 44mm versions get +13% battery capacity, which will allow them to last up to 40 hours on a single charge. The Pro version has a 590mAh battery and provides up to 80 hours of use or 20 hours with constant GPS use.

Among other innovations, the screen is stronger and the inner glass has been given a more curved shape, which increases skin contact and sensor accuracy.
Other Pro-versions include an even stronger titanium case and sapphire display, a new magnetic clasp and support for GPX routes for walking and cycling with turn-by-turn navigation.

The Galaxy Watch 5 starts at $279, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro will cost at least $449. For LTE support, you'll have to pay another $50 more. Sales will start on August 26.
