YouTube tests a game creation app

YouTube has launched a closed beta of Playables Builder, a web-based app built on Gemini 3.

YouTube Gaming has also announced an open beta of the project, which allows users to create simple games using a “prototype web app built using Gemini 3” without any coding skills.

Early games have already been created by creators such as sambucha, Mogswamp, and Gohar Khan. These mini-games are currently available to users in the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia.

The reception, however, has been mixed. The authors of the original article are sceptical about the concept, arguing that “Playables Builder is a peak example of misunderstanding what artificial intelligence is best at. Just because a chatbot can make a game doesn't mean anyone will enjoy playing it.”
