Wife Fined Dhs10,000 For Insulting Husband via Whatsapp

Al Ain Court of Appeals upheld a judgment issued by the Court of First Instance, obligating a wife to pay her husband Dhs10,000 in compensation for insulting him via Whatsapp messenger.

Previously, the husband had filed a claim to the Al Ain Court of First Instance demanding to oblige his wife to pay him Dhs100,000 in compensation for the harm he sustained as a result of insulting and slandering him and his family. He also demanded to obligate her to pay fees and expenses, as well as the attorneys’ fees.

In his lawsuit, the plaintiff indicated that his wife had assaulted and slandered him using WhatsApp. The Court found the wife guilty, so she was ordered to pay her husband Dhs10,000 in compensation, along with the expenses and attorney fees.

Subsequently, both the wife and the husband appealed the judgment, but the Court of Appeal upheld the ruling issued by the Court of First Instance.
