WhatsApp is testing message reminders

A new feature spotted in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android allows users to set reminders for specific messages in their chats.

According to WABetaInfo, users can choose preset delays of 2, 8, or 24 hours, or select an exact date and time. Messages with active reminders will be marked with a bell icon in the chat.

Once the reminder is triggered, WhatsApp will send a notification showing the message text, media preview (if any), and a shortcut to the relevant chat. The reminder remains private — only the user who set it will be notified.
