WhatsApp will release new privacy updates. According to the company, the changes are aimed at giving users more control, as well as introducing "additional layers" to protect their private messages.

The messenger will allow users to choose which contacts can see their online status through the "My contacts except..." option which will be added this month.

WhatsApp will also launch another feature for silently quitting a group. The app currently notifies every user in the group when someone quits. But soon only chat administrators will get information about it.

WhatsApp is also testing a screenshot lock for "view once" messages. It is still testing the feature, but says it will begin rolling out to users soon.
