How to purchase anonymous NFT phone number for Telegram to use it without a SIM

The Fragment Marketplace got a new section with anonymous virtual NFT phone numbers available for purchase. Those numbers start with +888.

After the purchase these numbers can be used to access Telegram accounts – “a new era of confidentiality”, according to the company’s representatives. How to purchase one, link it to an existing Telegram account or to sign up – in our tutorial.

How to purchase a new number

Go to Fragment and link your Tonkeeper wallet via the button «Connect TON». Click here to learn how to create a Tonkeeper wallet and buy cryptocurrency.
In top left press «Numbers»;
Opt for auction to get a unique number or for purchase of a random number at a price of 9 TON (≈$16) (then press buy instantly for 9 TON);
Press Unlock this number for 9 TON;
In the Pop up window Buy Random Number press Buy now with Tonkeeper;
Confirm in the Tonkeeper App;
You successfully got your number. Return to Fragment to the page My Assets for further information.

How to link your new number to an existing Telegram account

Go to Settings in Telegram, then to the account details and press “Change number”
Input your new number. The system will locate it as anonymous in the “Country” field;
Go to Fragment to My Assets page, find your virtual number and press Get Login Code;
Input the Code from Telegram to Fragment;
Done.

How to Create a New Telegram Account with a Virtual Number

Go to Telegram and input your virtual number when you sign in;
Go to Fragment to My Assets page, find your virtual number and press Get Login Code;
Input the Code from Telegram to Fragment;
Sign in with all of the details necessary;
Done.

Important to know

— Random virtual numbers are purchased immediately bypassing the auction process. They are stored in the Tonkeeper Wallet like a piece of NFT, and can be sold with an auction

— In order to link your virtual number to a Telegram account, update your Telegram App to the latest version. For example, the app would not be able to recognise anonymous numbers with Telegram 9.1 for iOS, you need Telegram 9.2 or later.

— If you use Telegram account via several devices, there is no need to go to Fragment each time. Messenger will send you the code from a connected device;

— Currently you can use an anonymous number only to create a new Telegram account or to link an existing one. Numbers only work for Telegram.

— Some virtual numbers already in auction can be purchased immediately as well. For example, if a number is set at a price of 9 TON, but you have no desire to wait, you can get it for 1000 TON at Fragment’s price:

— There are some options for immediate purchase for less money, but they demand research. Pay attention to the numbers with Resale marks, they were already purchased and set for resale.
