In iOS 26 beta 6 for developers, an image hinting at a live translation feature for AirPods has been discovered, according to 9to5Mac.

The image shows text in English, Portuguese, French, and German, along with a gesture depicting a simultaneous tap on both AirPods earbuds.

The source claims the feature is tied to AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4. It appears live translation is still in development, as Apple has not yet announced it. The company has only spoken about translating calls and messages.

The feature will likely work on AirPods only when paired with an iPhone. The outlet suggests it may be supported on all iPhone models compatible with Apple Intelligence.

However, given that live translation requires maximum performance and minimal latency, the feature could end up as an iPhone 17 exclusive, which may explain why Apple has kept it under wraps. In that case, its release would likely take place this fall.
