Google has unveiled Lock Screen widgets for its iPhone apps on iOS 16, including Google app, Gmail, Google Maps, Chrome, Google News and Google Drive. The new widgets, according to Google, will arrive in the coming weeks along with apps updates.

Users will be able to navigate to Google apps directly from the Lock Screen with a single tap. For example, the Search widget will allow users to initiate a search using text, voice or camera.

The Chrome widget will allow users to initiate searches, including voice or incognito mode.

For Google Drive, the widget will allow users to quickly access files or folders marked with asterisks.

The Google Maps widget will show real-time traffic information and estimated travel times to frequently visited locations such as home and work.

For Gmail, the widget will automatically show the number of new messages in the user's Inbox.

Google News will allow you to watch the headlines of articles to then view them in the app.

Widgets on the Lock Screen are a new feature of iOS 16. Users can personalise it with widgets, layered wallpaper, custom fonts for date and time and more.
