A groundbreaking medical procedure has reversed Type 1 diabetes in a 25-year-old Chinese woman, marking the first time the disease has been treated using a patient's own stem cells.

According to a study published in Cell, researchers took adult cells from the woman and transformed them into insulin-producing islet cells, which were then transplanted into her abdomen. Within three months, her body began producing insulin naturally, eliminating the need for injections.

The success of this procedure offers new hope for diabetics worldwide, with more trials expected to follow.
