Elon Musk’s company xAI has made Grok 4 free for all users.

The news came directly from the AI itself in a message to a user on X. Users online have confirmed the rollout of free access, though the company has yet to make an official announcement. According to Grok 4, the model is now available to free users, but with limitations.

For example, free users on X or in the Grok app can make up to five requests every 12 hours. Grok 4 also confirmed that Grok Imagine is now available for free as well. Previously, Imagine was only accessible through the SuperGrok and Premium subscriptions, priced at $30 and $50 per month, respectively. The AI tool can generate videos up to 15 seconds long.

Free access to Grok 4 gives users new capabilities. The model is 10 times more powerful than Grok 3, responds faster than ChatGPT, and can whisper, sing, and change intonation in voice mode.

The new Grok 4 and Grok 4 Heavy AI models were unveiled by Musk’s company in July 2025. At the time, developers claimed the new model outperformed all close competitors.

For instance, in the AIME 25 math competition, Grok 4 achieved a 100% correct answer rate. It can also simulate the collision of two black holes directly in a browser and provide analysis on the expected outcomes of various sports events.
