Proton, known for its privacy-focused products, has introduced its own version of Google Docs within its Drive cloud storage service.

Like all Proton products, Proton Docs features end-to-end encryption, ensuring user privacy. Aimed at industries such as healthcare, media, finance, and legal sectors, Proton Docs offers rich editing and collaboration tools similar to Google Docs.

Users can create, open, and edit documents in multiple formats, including Microsoft .docx, and can invite others to view and edit documents. Collaboration features include real-time cursor placement, presence indicators, and comment resolution.

While Proton has not confirmed plans to develop analogues of other Google Workspace apps, it continues to expand its offerings, which now include an encrypted email service, VPN, calendar, and password manager. Proton Docs will be available to users over the coming days.
