A massive disruption to Google's services occurred tonight, preceded by a tragic event.

KETV Omaha reports that an electrical incident occurred at Google's data centre near Council Bluffs, Iowa, leaving three electricians seriously injured.

The incident happened just before noon local time on Monday. Shortly thereafter, Downdetector users started reporting outages with main Google services.

It is unclear whether the tragic events in Counterpart Bluffs are directly related to the partial outage of Google's services. The company may have had to reroute users to other servers, which could take some time. However, the company claimed that the temporary unavailability of its services was due to a software update issue.
