Dubai is set to welcome the UAE’s first 3D-printed mosque in 2026, a project led by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD).

Spanning 2,000 square meters, the mosque will accommodate 499 worshippers and be constructed using a specialized concrete mix, with just three specialists overseeing the printing process. The project aligns with Dubai’s commitment to sustainability, as the mosque will be self-sustaining, integrating modern technology with traditional Islamic architecture.

Beyond this landmark project, Dubai continues to expand its religious infrastructure. The city has allocated Dhs475 million for the construction of 55 new mosques, increasing capacity by 40,961 worshippers. In 2024 alone, 24 new mosques were completed, costing Dhs172 million and accommodating 13,911 worshippers.

Sustainability efforts are also shaping the future of worship spaces—last year, Dubai’s mosques achieved a 5% reduction in their carbon footprint through enhanced energy efficiency measures and air quality monitoring.

IACAD has also announced plans to translate sermons into English in 70% of mosques, further enhancing accessibility for Dubai’s diverse population. According to Mohammed Ali bin Zayed Al-Falasi, Executive Director of the Mosque Affairs Sector, the focus remains on combining technological advancements with the preservation of Islamic values, ensuring Dubai’s mosques set a global standard in both innovation and tradition.
