SpaceX's Falcon 9 rockets have been grounded following an in-flight failure that occurred during the Starlink Group 9-3 mission.
The incident involved a liquid oxygen leak and an engine failure, leading to the rocket's upper stage being unable to complete its second burn.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk confirmed the engine experienced a "rapid unscheduled disassembly." The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will need to approve SpaceX’s investigation before Falcon 9 flights can resume.
The mission resulted in the deployment of Starlink satellites to a lower orbit than intended, with 10 of the 20 satellites in an environment likely causing them to reenter the atmosphere and disintegrate.
