Figma pulls AI tool after criticism over copying Apple's design

Figma has temporarily withdrawn its new AI tool, Make Designs, after it was found generating designs strikingly similar to Apple's iOS weather app.

This move follows complaints from users, including Not Boring Software CEO Andy Allen, who warned designers of potential legal issues. Figma CEO Dylan Field attributed the problem to a rushed timeline and a "bespoke design system" rather than specific training on Apple designs.

The tool, which uses models from OpenAI and Amazon, was not directly trained by Figma. The company plans to reassess and improve its processes before reintroducing the feature.
