Meta has announced a change to its labeling system for photos across all its apps, updating the tag from "Made with AI" to "AI info" after receiving feedback from photographers and users.

The initial "Made with AI" label, introduced in May, led to confusion as it was applied to real photos that had undergone minor edits using AI-powered tools.

Meta clarified that the new label aims to better reflect the extent of AI usage in photo edits, indicating that the image might have been modified with AI tools rather than entirely created by AI. Despite this update, the label might still appear on photos edited with tools like Adobe's Generative AI Fill.

AI Info’ can encompass content that was made and/or modified with AI so the hope is that this is more in line with people’s expectations, while we work with companies across the industry to improve the process,

stated Meta's spokesperson, Kate McLaughlin.
