Google Translate adds support for over 110 new languages

Google Translate now supports more than 110 new languages, nearly doubling its previous count to 243, Google announced on Thursday.

This massive expansion was driven by Google's PaLM 2 AI language model. Key additions include Cantonese, a highly requested language, and several African languages.

Most of the newly supported languages are spoken by at least one million people, with several spoken by hundreds of millions, Caswell told The Verge. This expansion marks a significant step in making Google Translate more accessible to people around the world.
