A simple idle clicker game called Banana has quickly risen to the number three spot on Steam, boasting over 400,000 concurrent players.

The game's idea is straightforward: you click on a banana to potentially earn banana stickers, which can then be sold on the Steam Marketplace. Some rare stickers cost as much as $1,400, though most sell for around $0.02.

The game's developers describe it as a “legal infinite money glitch,” as players can earn money from selling these virtual items. The earnings go into a Steam wallet, which can be used to purchase other games.

So these bananas are basically NFTs, only without the blockchain.

Despite its success, the developers deny allegations that the game is a scam or Ponzi scheme, insisting it's simply “a stupid game.” They have hinted at future updates, including customization options for the banana and potential minigames.
