Boston Dynamics has unveiled its next gen humanoid robot, the all-electric Atlas, designed to perform the toughest industrial tasks. This development expands the company's range of robots, including the Spot robot dog and the Stretch manipulator.

The company emphasizes that Atlas' humanoid design is ideally suited for working in environments designed for humans. At the same time, the new robot model is not limited by human movements, it is stronger, more agile and nimble, which makes it even more functional in the industrial field.

In the first stages, Boston Dynamics plans to test the new Atlas with a limited number of customers, including Hyundai, which acquired 80% of the company in 2021.

In response to a question from TechCrunch media about whether the Atlas name will be retained given its commercial application, Boston Dynamics CEO Robert Plater said the company will consider the issue when it is ready to begin mass production and deliveries. Atlas pilot testing at Hyundai facilities is tentatively scheduled to begin in early 2025.
