Teams from all the key TON wallets worked on the standard.
This is an update to the TON Connect standard launched in April. One of the key differences between TON Connect 2.0 and the first version is the ability to interact directly with decentralized TON-based applications.
Users will now be able to connect to mobile and desktop applications, Telegram bots and other dApps directly through the interface of popular TON wallets. Applications connected in this way are anchored in the wallet browser and become available directly in the application.
At the same time, TON Connect 2.0 still allows you to authorize at online venues in a single click, enjoying all the benefits of Web 3.0. Teams of all key TON wallets worked on the project.
Tonkeeper was the first to support the new standard, with the rest of the wallets working to implement it:
On behalf of the community working on the standard, I am proud to introduce TON Connect 2.0: a comprehensive communication protocol between wallets and applications in the TON ecosystem. The Tonkeeper team led the way on this standard as an independent, open source project with input and feedback from the entire TON developer community," said Oleg Andreev, creator of Tonkeeper.
TON Connect, a new communication protocol, has been launched to connect wallets and apps in the TON ecosystem. The protocol aims to offer a seamless user experience between the two types of platform.
Apps in TON, known as decentralized apps or "dapps," offer a range of functionality and high performance while protecting users' funds through the use of smart contracts. Wallets, on the other hand, provide a user interface for approving transactions and securely hold users' cryptographic keys on personal devices.
The separation of concerns between wallets and apps allows for rapid innovation and a high level of security for users. Wallets do not need to build their own ecosystems, while apps do not need to take on the risk of holding end users' accounts. TON Connect aims to bridge the gap between the two, providing a smooth and efficient user experience.
The TON community also invites all developers and businesses to implement the new TON Connect 2.0 in their products. The relevant SDK documentation, detailed implementation guides, and a description of the updated standard are available on the TON community site.
