Apple has patented a brainwave reader that could be added to the Apple Vision Pro headset.
This development offers new possibilities for monitoring mental health, learning, training and increasing the user's attentiveness. Sensors will be able to analyze the heart, lungs and certain areas of the brain, such as the activity of learning centers or panic reactions, without reading the user's mind.
Apple is also considering using the technology in recovery from post-traumatic stress disorder and in helping people with concentration problems.
The patent describes the use of a headset for full immersion with light blocking, which could be useful in meditation and exercise. Sensors embedded in the headband would monitor body temperature, heart rate, breathing and blood pressure, and could also use magnetic infrared imaging (FMRI) sensors.
The idea belongs to Javier Mendez, who previously registered patents for wireless charging batteries and GPS receivers. Apple sees virtual reality as a means to revolutionize healthcare, including training medical staff using Vision Pro apps.
