Developer Matt Wiese adjusted his sleep routine around the chatbot Claude, as he shared in his blog.

The reason is that the token limit with an active Claude Pro subscription resets every five hours, but the reset often came at inconvenient times when he was "in flow."

Matt decided he could change his sleep cycle to get the most out of Claude. Depending on usage, tokens run out after about 1–3 hours of work, after which he sleeps for roughly 2–3 hours. According to him, that’s enough to catch a bit of REM sleep.

He borrowed this sleep technique from solo sailors, who rest in short intervals when traveling alone.

Matt said his productivity has increased tenfold, and now he works "like a cracked ninja." He suggested that at some point Anthropic, the developer of Claude, may raise the subscription price or cut token limits, since the company is essentially giving away compute resources for free. If that happens, Matt will have to adapt.
