X developing feature to block links in replies to combat spam

Independent app researcher Nima Owji revealed that users will soon be able to disable links in replies to their posts.

Christopher Stanley, X's Senior Director for Security Engineering, confirmed the feature, stating his team developed it. While the feature aims to prevent spam and self-promotion, it might also limit the ability to share legitimate links to debunk misinformation.

Owji has previously uncovered other potential features, such as in-app currency and job listings for verified organizations.
