On July 4, YouTube launched an enhanced eraser tool for creators, allowing them to remove copyrighted music from their videos without affecting other audio elements such as dialogue or sound effects.
YouTube chief Neal Mohan announced the update on X, highlighting that the new Erase Song tool leverages an AI-powered algorithm to accurately detect and remove copyrighted songs while preserving other audio components.
Previously tested with mixed results, the updated tool aims for precision in song removal. Despite improvements, YouTube cautions that the algorithm might occasionally fail, advising creators to mute all sound or trim the affected segments if necessary.
