In response to Apple's compliance plan with the EU's Digital Markets Act (DMA), Spotify has criticized the tech giant, labeling the new fees imposed on developers as "extortion."

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek called Apple's plan a "complete and total farce" in a company blog post. Apple's DMA compliance includes reduced commissions for EU app developers but introduces a "core technology fee" and a 3% payment processing fee, which Spotify, along with other critics like Epic Games, deems as problematic "junk fees."

Ek emphasizes the impact on Spotify's customer acquisition costs and challenges lawmakers to recognize Apple's tactics.
