X, the popular platform, has announced the addition of passwordless logins through passkeys for now to its iPhone and iPad app, extending the feature to all users regardless of their premium status.

With passkey log-ins, users can bypass the traditional password entry process and instead rely on the security features of their device, including Face ID, Touch ID, or the device's passcode. This enhances the user experience by streamlining the login process and providing an extra layer of security.

Currently, the passkey functionality is available exclusively to users in the United States. X has not disclosed a timeline for expanding this login technology to Android devices, desktop operating systems, or other regions. While the rollout of passkeys on X is underway, it may take some time before all users gain access to this feature.

Passkeys work by generating two cryptographic keys, with one stored on X's servers and the other locally on the user's device. This tech enhances security by creating a robust and convenient "remember this device" system.

X joins the ranks of major tech companies, including Google, PayPal, Microsoft, and Nintendo, that have embraced passwordless logins through passkey technology.
