OpenAI has suspended the developer behind a ChatGPT-powered bot named Dean.Bot, designed to impersonate Democratic presidential candidate Dean Phillips.

The bot was created by AI startup Delphi for the super PAC We Deserve Better, which supports Phillips' campaign. Despite displaying a disclaimer to website visitors, the use of Dean.Bot contradicted OpenAI's policies.

This incident follows OpenAI's recent efforts to prevent the misuse of its technology in the context of political campaigns, explicitly addressing the prohibition of "chatbots impersonating candidates."

Delphi initially removed ChatGPT but later took the bot down altogether in response to OpenAI's intervention.
