Abu Dhabi has unveiled a novel service that allows couples to receive their marriage contracts instantly through text messages and other digital channels.

Considered the first of its kind, this initiative, introduced by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), enables newlyweds to obtain their contracts immediately after the ceremony concludes and is digitally authenticated by the officiant.

Since its launch in October 2022, the innovative service has gained popularity, with around 7,000 digital marriage contracts already signed.

To facilitate digital weddings, Abu Dhabi has streamlined the process:

  1. Submit a marriage application online using the UAE Pass on the ADJD website.
  2. Upon approval, applicants can finalize procedures online, choosing between an in-person ceremony and a video-call marriage session.
  3. Book an appointment.
  4. After completing the marriage session, the digital contract is promptly delivered.
  5. Finalized contracts can be shared through official channels with a digital signature.

All documents are digitally authenticated and accompanied by a unique contract number, eliminating the need for traditional paper documentation.
