Unlike traditional group calls that ring every member, this feature starts voice chats quietly with an in-chat bubble for users to join.

It allows users to engage in voice discussions while continuing to message those who can't participate. Users can easily unmute, hang up, or message the group without leaving the voice chat by using the call controls at the top of the chat.

The global rollout of voice chats in large groups will begin in the coming weeks, initially targeting groups with 33 or more participants. WhatsApp emphasizes that it ensures the security of voice chats through default end-to-end encryption.

This feature brings WhatsApp in line with platforms like Discord, Telegram, and Slack, offering large groups the ability to engage in spoken conversations.
