Apple has introduced several upgrades to its Apple Music service, fulfilling a long-standing user request while also making some significant changes to the way users can interact with radio shows.

One of the most requested features on Apple Music was the ability to follow shows on Apple Music Radio and receive notifications when new episodes are available. Apple has delivered this feature with some specifics. Instead of integrating it directly into Apple Music, users can now follow Apple Music Radio shows in Apple Podcasts. This integration leverages the existing infrastructure of the Podcasts app for delivering subscription content.

While following radio shows in Apple Podcasts offers several benefits, such as notifications for new episodes, offline availability, and synchronized playback positions across devices, there are also drawbacks.

When listening to a radio show in the Podcasts app, the Now Playing screen only displays the show itself, omitting track information, which is important for music-based shows. Additionally, users lose the ability to quickly add songs to their music libraries.

While these changes offer some improvements to the user experience, there is hope for more seamless integration between Apple Music and Apple Podcasts in future updates, providing a more comprehensive solution for music discovery and radio show enjoyment.
