Discovered by Windows Latest, the application for the trademark "GPT-5" was filed on July 18.

While the details remain unclear for now, it describes the trademark as "downloadable computer software for using language model." The application also specified other features such as "the artificial production of human speech and text" and "natural language processing, generation, understanding, and analysis."

This approach aligns with the language OpenAI used in the trademark applications for both GPT-3.5 and GPT-4. However, the application doesn't provide a clear timeline or confirmation of when GPT-5 might be launched, if at all, suggesting that such a development may not be in the near-term plans.

Experts speculate that OpenAI is more likely to concentrate on refining and enhancing its GPT-4 model, rather than immediately launching a new iteration. GPT-4 was unveiled in March and was recently made accessible through API last month.
