Ford unveils patent for a portable charging trailer

The patent outlines a trailer equipped with a battery pack for supplying power to an electric vehicle or other devices.

With this innovative concept, Ford envisions the charging trailer as a universal and transportable battery pack that can be used in a various scenarios. By connecting electric vehicles or equipment to the trailer, users can conveniently recharge their devices on the go.

The trailer has standard components such as a trailer body, wheels and tires, and inside it fits a battery pack that will probably use lithium-ion technology.

According to the patent, a trailer with a charger can be easily towed using its tongue or plugged in for recharging. In some configurations, the trailer can even operate autonomously, driven and operated by its own electric motors.

Notably, the patent also describes a canopy system to protect the charging trailer from sunlight and extreme heat. However, it is worth noting that the ability to install solar panels to utilize solar energy can expand the capabilities of the trailer.
