A sneak peek at the potentially new Emoji coming to iOS 17

The new emoji characters are expected to appear on Apple devices in the spring of 2024.

Emoji 15.1 introduces a unique change for over 100 existing emoji characters – a shift in direction. This doesn't refer to a new artistic style, but rather a literal change in the way these emoji can face. Emojipedia highlights 108 draft characters that currently face left but may gain the ability to face the opposite direction.

Among the potential additions, there are exciting emoji candidates such as thephoenix bird, brown mushroom, broken chain, lime, and head shaking vertically and horizontally.

Additionally, there are new combinations of bust(s) in silhouette emoji characters with gender-neutral depictions of families.

The emoji set is still in the draft stage, with the final list expected to be determined in September.
