X introduces Community Notes for videos

This feature allows contributors to attach notes to videos, providing additional context.

These notes will automatically appear on all posts containing the matching video, enhancing the platform's ability to add context to edited clips and AI-generated videos.

Eligible contributors can select the option "About the video in this post, and should appear on all posts including this video" to include notes about a particular clip. This initiative follows the platform's introduction of Community Notes for images earlier this year, aimed at providing more context for images appearing on the platform.

Community Notes have been accessible worldwide since the previous year, with X continually expanding support for contributors from various countries and introducing note accounts in different languages. These efforts have allowed users to highlight top contributions on different posts. Last month, the platform introduced a counter to display how frequently an image with notes has appeared.

However, it should be noted that while Community Notes aim to improve context and moderation, there have been instances where these notes have been inaccurate or unhelpful. For instance, a recent report highlighted a link related to debunking a rumor that redirected to inappropriate content, with no action taken by the platform at the time of reporting.
