Luxury sports car manufacturer Porsche has announced a new partnership with the technology company Mobileye, which will bring hands-free automated assistance and navigation functions to future Porsche vehicles.

In the collaboration, Mobileye’s SuperVision technology platform will form the foundation for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) in Porsche’s upcoming models.

SuperVision will allow cars to follow navigation routes, change lanes, and overtake slower vehicles on multi-lane roads. It even allows drivers to take their hands off the steering wheel in certain circumstances, as long as they remain visually alert and ready to take control of the vehicle if necessary.

Porsche's parent company, Volkswagen, has previously partnered with Mobileye to develop highly automated and autonomous driving technologies through its software unit Cariad, which is also working with Bosch, Qualcomm, and China’s Horizon Robotics.

Porsche has not revealed when its customers will see Mobileye's technology on future models, nor which models will feature SuperVision.
