FaceTime in iOS 26 will automatically freeze a video call if a naked person appears on screen — a feature first discovered by user iDeviceHelp, who shared the findings in a blog post on X.

Originally announced as part of Apple’s child safety tools, the feature was designed to blur explicit content in shared albums and pause FaceTime calls if nudity was detected. However, it now appears to affect adult users as well.

When the feature is triggered, FaceTime pauses the call and displays a warning that the content may be “something sensitive,” offering the option to end the call if the user feels uncomfortable. The final decision is left to the user, who can either hang up or resume the call.

The update has sparked concern among users, some of whom are calling it “a serious overreach” and “an invasion of privacy.” Critics argue that what was intended as a child protection tool is now being extended into adult conversations.

Apple, for its part, maintains that call content never reaches its servers and remains on-device. iOS 26 is set to launch in September 2025.
