These new AI-powered chatbots and summarization features will be added to its desktop browsers, Opera and Opera GX.

The new tools, which are powered by ChatGPT and ChatSonic, will allow users to generate AI prompts by highlighting text on a website or typing it in. These chatbots can also summarize articles or webpages, write social media posts for users, and help with ideation through prompts.

Opera is integrating these chatbots into the sidebar of its browsers, with ChatSonic's bot even allowing users to generate images from text inputs. These services are available in Early Access in Opera

In a statement, Opera's product director Joanna Czajka said, "AI-generated content is a game-changer for web browsing. Our goal is to use these technologies to give our users new browsing superpowers - reimagining how they learn, create, and research."

Opera also stated that it plans to announce more AI-powered features in the future that would run on its own GPT-based model. The new AI tools are available in early access across all desktop platforms.
