OpenAI enhances ChatGPT with five voice options for audio responses

OpenAI introduces an exciting feature for its ChatGPT app, enabling users to interact with the chatbot through audio responses.

Over the next two weeks, subscribers to OpenAI's ChatGPT Plus service and enterprise users can choose from five personas, each with its unique voice, such as "Juniper," "Breeze," and "Ember." ChatGPT will then answer questions in the selected voice, providing a more dynamic communication experience.

This development builds on existing speech-to-text features, offering a more human-like interaction with an AI chatbot. OpenAI aims to promote on-the-go usage of its mobile app, putting it in direct competition with personal assistant services like Google's Assistant, Apple's Siri, and Amazon's Alexa.

Users can now engage ChatGPT in conversation while multitasking, such as learning about the history of Disneyland during a trip to the theme park or requesting a cocktail recipe while in the kitchen. While ChatGPT can tell stories and provide information, it will not sing songs.

The voices generated by ChatGPT perform a human-like quality, thanks to OpenAI's collaboration with voice actors.

Additionally, in the coming weeks, paid and enterprise users will gain access to a feature powered by GPT-4, enabling them to submit images and related questions, such as requesting outfit suggestions or seeking help with math problems.
