Microsoft is testing ads on its AI-powered chatbot, Bing.

The chatbot, which uses artificial intelligence to converse with users and answer their questions, will now include ads in its chat experience, according to a blog post by Microsoft corporate vice president Yusuf Mehdi.

While the exact details of what these ads will look like are still being determined, they will show up in the new Bing chat, similar to the traditional search results. Microsoft has been testing ads in Bing for a while, and the inclusion of ads in the chatbot is an expansion of this initiative.

However, it's still unclear how many ads users will see, or how Microsoft will balance ad and non-ad responses. While Mehdi says Microsoft will share ad revenue with partners whose content contributed to the chat response, the addition of ads will undoubtedly increase the difficulty of distinguishing trustworthy responses.
