CodeWeavers has announced that CrossOver 23, the popular software that allows macOS users to run Windows apps seamlessly, will gain support for DirectX 12.

This enhancement aims to provide an even better gaming experience when playing Windows games on macOS.

CrossOver translates Windows APIs into their Mac equivalents. While CrossOver currently supports DirectX 11, the inclusion of DirectX 12 brings forth a new level of graphics rendering APIs that promise improved performance, efficiency, and optimal utilization of CPU and GPU cores.

DirectX 12 is the latest technology used on Windows and Xbox platforms. The addition of DirectX 12 support will be implemented on a per-title basis to ensure a smooth experience, bypassing any potential bugs.

CodeWeavers has already achieved a significant milestone with the confirmation that "Diablo II Resurrected" is running on macOS using early pre-alpha builds of CrossOver 23. Although there are still some errors to be corrected, this achievement is a significant step forward.

Starting with "Diablo II Resurrected", CodeWeavers plans to add more titles in the future. The first beta of CrossOver 23 is expected to be released this summer, followed by the official launch later this year.
