Elon Musk's xAI moves into OpenAI's former San Francisco headquarters

Elon Musk’s AI startup, xAI, has moved into the former headquarters of OpenAI in San Francisco’s Mission District, marking a notable shift for the area, which is now home to two major AI companies.

Musk’s legal team claims that he originally leased the building during his time at OpenAI and has continued paying for it since. Despite Musk's earlier statements about moving his companies to Texas, xAI might remain in California, operating out of this office and another location in Palo Alto.

xAI hosted an open house in the new space shortly after OpenAI's DevDay event.
