Austrian advocacy group Noyb has filed a complaint against Mozilla, alleging that the default activation of its Privacy Preserving Attribution (PPA) feature in Firefox violates EU GDPR regulations.

Noyb claims the feature, which allows Firefox to remember ads and generate interest reports, impacts millions of European users without their explicit consent. While Mozilla asserts that the system aggregates data without sharing individual browsing activities with third parties, Noyb argues it still undermines users' privacy rights.

The group is calling for an investigation by the Austrian data protection authority and demands that Mozilla implement an opt-in system for data processing.

Noyb has previously targeted other tech giants like Microsoft and Meta for similar concerns.
