Amazon has unveiled its latest innovation, the Amazon One app, revolutionizing the way customers make purchases at various locations including Whole Foods, Panera Bread, and 150 other third-party venues such as stadiums, airports, fitness centers, and convenience stores.
Previously, enrollment for Amazon One required physical interaction with a dedicated device, but the new app streamlines the process, allowing users to create a profile, capture a photo of their palm, and add a payment method directly from their smartphone. However, completing the sign-up still requires an initial interaction with your Amazon One machine.
The Amazon One app serves not only for payment, but also for entering venues, verifying age and accessing loyalty rewards.
Using advanced generative artificial intelligence technology, the system matches the user's palm image captured by the smartphone camera with a near-infrared image from the Amazon One scanner, providing an accurate and secure identity match with 99.99% accuracy.
All palm images captured by the app are encrypted and transmitted to a secure Amazon One domain within the AWS cloud, guaranteeing privacy and security for users.
The Amazon One app is available for free download on the App Store, marking a significant leap forward in contactless and convenient payment methods.
