OpenAI plans mid-year release for upgraded ChatGPT model

According to sources familiar with the company, OpenAI is set to introduce GPT-5 during the middle of this year, potentially in the summer months.

Recent demonstrations of the enhanced model have left industry insiders impressed, with one CEO describing it as "materially better."Additionally, the upcoming version is expected to boast new functionalities, including the ability to engage AI agents developed by OpenAI for autonomous tasks.

Although a precise release date for GPT-5 has not been finalized, the company is actively training the model. Once training is complete, internal security testing and rigorous evaluation processes, known as "red teaming," will be conducted to eliminate any potential issues before public release.
