YouTube has been gradually tightening its stance on ad blockers since May and has now implemented the policy globally.

The company is taking a tough approach to the issue, urging users to either enable ads on YouTube or choose YouTube Premium for ad-free viewing.

In an official statement, a YouTube spokesperson highlighted that the use of ad blockers violates YouTube's Terms of Service. YouTube has initiated a global campaign to prompt users with ad blockers enabled to either allow ads on YouTube or explore the option of YouTube Premium.

This campaign is characterized by a message displayed in the video player, stating, "Ad blockers violate YouTube's Terms of Service." Users are required to "Allow YouTube Ads" by disabling their ad blocker for youtube.com, with detailed instructions provided for popular ad-blocking extensions like AdBlock, Adblock Plus, and uBlock Origin.

Users are presented with multiple prompts to enable ads before YouTube permits access to the content. YouTube emphasizes that this practice aligns with industry standards, as many other platforms adopt similar approaches.

YouTube Premium, an alternative to ad-supported viewing, is currently priced at $13.99 per month in the US (or $139.99 annually), with family and student pricing options also available.
