Apple is preparing to introduce a USB-C charging case for its AirPods Pro, according to Mark Gurman.

The move is expected to coincide with the release of the highly anticipated iPhone 15 line later this year, which will implement the transition from a Lightning port to a USB-C port.

Gurman also reports that Apple is currently testing a new hearing test feature, which will be an addition to the AirPods' set of features introduced with iOS 17.

"The company is working on a new hearing test feature that will play different tones and sounds to allow the AirPods to determine how well a person can hear. The idea is to help users screen for hearing issues, not unlike how the Apple Watch ECG app checks for heart problems."

Gurman reports that Apple plans to expand AirPods' health monitoring capabilities to include sensors capable of measuring body temperature through the ear canal.

In addition to the AirPods updates, Gurman mentions in the newsletter that Apple is also working on a new external display for Mac computers. This display is said to have the ability to function as a smart home display when not in use. The release of this smart monitor is not expected until next year at the earliest.
