Xiaomi has introduced an updated version of its SU7 electric sedan with a series of upgrades, including a range of up to 902 km (CLTC), LiDAR as standard across all trims, and an 897V charging architecture in the Max version.

The base Standard model starts at 229,900 yuan (around $33,000), making it slightly cheaper than the Tesla Model 3 in China despite a price increase compared to the previous version. The company reported nearly 89,000 pre-orders within the first 24 hours after opening sales in January.

The original SU7 launched two years ago and quickly became one of the best-selling premium EVs in China. By the end of 2025, Xiaomi had overtaken Tesla Model 3 in local sales. Over the past 21 months, the company has delivered more than 360,000 SU7 vehicles.

The main update focuses on the platform. The Standard and Pro versions now use a 752V architecture instead of 400V, while the Max version moves from 871V to 897V. This improves charging speed, with Xiaomi claiming the Max can add up to 670 km of range in 15 minutes, compared to 510 km previously. Support for 5C fast charging allows the battery to go from 10% to 80% in around 11 minutes.
