Ubisoft has unveiled a major business overhaul, including the creation of a new subsidiary that will house some of its flagship franchises — Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six.

Tencent will acquire a 25% stake in the new company for €1.16 billion. This deal gives the Chinese tech giant rights to use the intellectual property of these major Ubisoft franchises, enabling Tencent to develop and publish games based on Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six. The transaction is expected to close in 2025.

Today Ubisoft is opening a new chapter in its history, said Yves Guillemot, Co-Founder and CEO of Ubisoft. As we accelerate the company’s transformation, this is a foundational step in changing Ubisoft’s operating model that will enable us to be both agile and ambitious.

The new entity will consolidate teams working on these iconic titles and oversee both current releases and upcoming projects. The deal is expected to be finalized by the end of 2025.

Analysts point out that the new subsidiary’s valuation exceeds Ubisoft’s current market cap. Following the news, the company’s U.S.-traded shares jumped 20%, according to Bloomberg.
