The year of 2022 is coming to an end, with the holidays aproaching very quickly. We have already shared a list of the best Android smartphones, so it's time to talk about the most worthy smartwatch models.
Today we are going to talk about the universal and top accessories: smartwatches from different manufacturers that suit both Android smartphone users and iPhone owners. Of course, due to the high level of competition, many models today are similar to one another.
At the very least, the similarity can be judged by the number of features and functions offered. Nevertheless, each model is different, as brands try to take a different approach to design, develop their own OS shells and, ultimately, add some brand new features to the watch.
Advantages: advanced biometric sensor, support for ECG analysis and more accurate sleep measurement, NFC availability.
This is truly a flagship smartwatch. The main parts of the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro case are made of rugged titanium, while it has received water protection standard IP68. The heart of this model is the Exynos W920 processor. There are 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of permanent storage, which is good for storing music.
The 1.36" Super AMOLED screen with 450×450 resolution supports "Always On Display". The watch has many useful features. For instance, the BioActive sensor allows you to measure your heart rate and blood oxygen saturation (SpO₂), conduct an electrocardiogram (ECG), and analyse body composition and sleep.
Sleep data is made more accurate with a body temperature sensor. There are stress monitoring functions, a pedometer and 90 sport modes, some of which are detected automatically (such as running, swimming and walking). The model also boasts GPS and NFC for contactless payment.
An LTE version is available if desired. One of the exclusive features the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro has acquired is the ability to import route files, which store all the user's route information from workouts. I think this is quite a useful feature.
Advantages: supports major satellite systems, has two screens, one of them with minimal charge
It is an option for those who like to travel and those who care about having an eSIM, while not paying too much for it. There is also a Wi-Fi version with an almost similar price tag. The advantage of this Wear OS smartwatch is that it has two screens. The first is a colourful 1.4" AMOLED screen with 454×454 resolution.
But the second one is an additional FSTN display. What is it for? While a watch with an AMOLED screen will last up to 72 hours without recharging, the battery life increases to 45 days when the FSTN display is on. This screen can display all key and useful information.
This includes date, time, number of steps and charge. The TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra has also received IP68 protection and is certified to the US military standard MIL-STD-810G. The case is made of stainless steel. It supports GPS and other systems and has a compass.
The watch is equipped with Snapdragon Wear 4100 processor, which works with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of ROM. The HD PPG Heart Rate biometric sensor is responsible for activity tracking. This includes heart rate, SpO₂, heart rhythm disturbance, fatigue analysis and training. And you can also use contactless payment with the NFC module.
Advantages: largest number of workout modes, uploading and importing routes, low price
This model is one of the few on the market that can be safely described as an accessory with a perfect balance between the number of features and costs. The display is covered by protective glass, while the metal case has been given water and dust protection with the ability to go underwater to a depth of five atmospheres.
The AMOLED display has a diagonal of 1.43" and a resolution of 466×466 pixels. "Always On Display" feature is, of course, in place. The watch allows you to reject and receive phone calls, and with the BioTracker 4.0 biometric sensor, 24-hour heart rate and respiration, as well as SpO₂ and stress, are available.
With the PAI activity index, cardiovascular diseases can be prevented. Not only night sleep but also daytime sleep monitoring is also available here. Another unique feature is the 154 types of workouts. With GPS, you can not only record routes without a smartphone, but also upload route files and use navigation on imported routes.
Such a great feature we mentioned above in a part about the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. The GTR 4 is capable of lasting between 7 and 9 days if key activity-tracking features are used. If something is switched off, the battery will last a couple of weeks. With GPS constantly on, it will last one day only.
Advantages: good battery life, useful workout types, sapphire crystal screen
This watch with its classic, austere design is good. The screen is covered by a durable and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, while the main body of the case is made of titanium. Water resistance is present, with the watch having an IP68 waterproof rating and 5 ATM rating. You can dive to the depths of 50 metres.
The 1.43" AMOLED screen has a decent 466×466 resolution and supports "Always On Display". The pleasant shell is complemented by a number of useful functions. For example, you can measure heart rate, SpO₂ and ECG. As with the Samsung Galaxy Watch5 Pro, there is also a temperature sensor.
But it actually only measures skin temperature. The Watch GT 3 Pro allows for quite a few exercise scenarios, including a diving mode. This watch also excels its competitos in terms of battery life - it can last up to two weeks without recharging in normal use.
Among other things, it works with major satellite systems, has an NFC chip for contactless payment, supports phone calls, and has a decent-sized speaker, so you can answer calls and listen to music in the shower.
Advantages: two types of straps included, dual-band GPS, low cost
The main part of its case is made of austenitic stainless steel. This model comes with two types of straps: one make of calfskin for everyday wear and the second - made of fluoroelastomer for training. The silver or black editions are available in with straps of different colours.
The 1.43" AMOLED screen, with a resolution of 466×466 and a refresh rate of 60Hz, is covered in sapphire crystal. The advantage for the training modes (the watch has 117) is the dual-band GNSS chip. It works with several satellite systems, including GPS.
As for the exercise, the Xiaomi watch is a delight in this regard. After each workout, you can get a detailed report directly on the watch. That said, like the models above, there is a number of exercises that are automatically recognised. The watch can be submerged in water to a depth of up to 50 metres.
And to quickly start your workout, all you have to do is use a separate button. Other features include 24-hour heart rate measurement and SpO₂ tracking, slow and fast sleep analysis, as well as the ability to make phone calls with Bluetooth 5.2.
