Tesla has officially ended production of its Model S and Model X electric vehicles. The freed-up assembly lines will now be used to build the company's Optimus robots. Over the full production run, Tesla sold roughly 750,000 of the two premium models combined.

"The last Model S & the last Model X have been produced at Fremont Factory. 14 years of history for Model S, 11 years for Model X," the company said in a post on X.

The Model S entered production in 2012, followed by the Model X in 2015. Together, they shaped the modern luxury EV market and set new benchmarks for range, performance, and software-driven features.

Both flagships served as the foundation for Tesla's more affordable lineup. The mass-market Model 3 later pushed the brand out of its premium niche and into the mainstream.

The next major step was the Model Y crossover, which became the company's main growth driver. Last year, however, the title of best-selling vehicle in the world shifted from the Model Y to the Toyota RAV4.
